Steven C. Diaz has been working as a professional creative designer in the Salt Lake Valley for over 15 years. Through this time he has had the pleasure of working alongside some well-known companies and corporations in delivering high quality designs, well-thought out campaigns, and various initiatives to build and develop a better user experience, boost conversions, increase sales and develop interactive designs to increase engagement.

THE PROBLEM
  • UX/UI was never utilized in the development of the Environmental web & mobile app for Savage Services.
  • Inventory of waste, trucks, dumpsters, and large equipment was not effective and items were being lost and unaccounted for.
  • Needed many simpler and productive workflows to encourage fieldworkers to track jobs, keep inventory, track approvals, create action items, and track waste management as Savage Services requested.
THE PROCESS
  • Created a full design process and style guide for developers to follow while rebuilding the web and mobile app.
  • Re-worked many wireframes and mockups to encourage field workers to utilize the app with simpler workflows and processes.
  • Coded and developed the mobile view layout and design and passed off to DEVs to build inside Angular.
THE RESULTS
  • Giving the ETS app a new focus on design made users excited to use the app and processes for day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Educated Savage Services on the importance of UX/UI practices on their apps that was never utilized before.
  • Moved on to a new team and developing a new design and workflow for a current app that has been neglected since the development 10 years ago.

  • Integrated the new styles and look for the app to be viewed in both light mode and dark modes.

  • Upon initial testing with fieldworkers, many seemed pleased with the ease of the app.
